FABS AVGAS facility  

I speak for everyone when I say that we can't wait for the new AVGAS facility to be completed!  Can we get some timing from someone?

Maybe we can talk to the committee and see if we can get a MOGAS facility going too...... even if it is a "drum pump setup" like Aviators. I am reasonably sure that we can make it worth for FABS in terms of volume and profit.

We now have lots of RATAX and even Jabiru engines running on MOGAS... Also many visiting aircraft are using MOGAS fuel.

The latest was (on Saturday 9 August) that the pipework will be done this week. I think that AVGAS should be running again (realistically) within 30 days, (optimistically) 2 - 3 weeks from now.

Very valid point re MOGAS ! This issue was discussed at the committee last year, and from what I recall there were no objections. I will take it up again with committee and give feedback.

Yes the AVGAS is almost back online. The fuel company will be flushing 200l of AVGAS through the system tomorrow (Tuesday 19 August) and then we wait for the approval which should not take to long.

Excuse the photo but as you can see the weather was not good... but it really looks good and solid!

Done deal!!! The AVGAS facility is back online. FABS are selling AVGAS at ONLY R14.00 per liter! That is great news since I paid R15.50 per liter at Kitty Hawk today.

The committee has agreed on MOGAS supply. Innitially there will be 4 x 20 liter containers available with LRP (lead replacement) fuel. If demand grows, alternatives for more stock will be looked at. Cost will most likely be pump price plus 50 cents to cover expenses.

Is LRP the right fuel for everyone ?
